Even if you know nothing about Korean at all, you should have heard of 'Gangnam Style' the Horse Dance as this song is just all over TV, radio programs and the internet. This catchy K-pop does not only rank No. 1 on iTunes music charts in around 30 countries, but also gets to 11th on the Billboard Top 100.
This music video has simply gone viral.

Many people are now imitating the rapper's horse dance and making many different parodies of the song. You can now find Lodon Style, Miko Style, Mitt Romney Style and even Gandalf Style. Just click search in Youtube and you will be amazed how this horse dance has inspired people all around the world.
The parodies of Gangnam Style video are excellent examples of most recent Memes, which mean an idea or a popular culture that is widely spread from people to people.
With different advanced social media channels and softwares, people nowadays are not able to capture creative ideas for inspirations quicker, but also pick up and response to the idea creatively - not just by leaving comments.
It is always impressive to see how people like you and me take an idea and regenerate it in their own ways. Take the Gangnam Style parodies for an example, the quality of some videos are even on par with the original one.
The social media has changed us. People from this generation are more self-expressive compared to their parents. They are not afraid to show our talents as well as what they think and share them with others. Creativity and originality are highly appreciated in a form of regeneration of the creative ideas. That creates a meme that continues to inspire many many others...
You are right. Everywhere is memeing the Gangnam Style! Even i still can't figure out why people are doing this, but this is just too popular. I even see apps for iphone in the top 10 of the apple store. It's just going crazy.

Delete@ Clare: Haha, yes, this is really crazy but successful. Who can imagine a 30+ Korean singer, who is apparently not as handsome or hot as other male Korean pop stars, be so successful and popular than the other stars? Creativity really gets PSY into the place.

DeleteThat video is equally funny as the original one. Having watched so many memes of Gangnam Style, I would say the Hong Kong style is the one that looks like the original one the most. I wish JJ could dance better though, haha.
